Customs clearance for individuals

“Why do I need to do customs clearance?” This question is often asked by individual customers who order FedEx express delivery to Kazakhstan for the first time.

This is required by the customs legislation of Kazakhstan with regard to parcels and freight (goods) that cross the customs borders of the Eurasian Economic Union. Under this requirement, recipients and senders of such goods are required to declare them to the state customs authorities. Most legal entities whose business is related to or dependent on import or export of goods and equipment are aware of this nuance, and most individuals in Kazakhstan are virtually unaware of it.

Customs clearance is not officially part of FedEx Express’ services for Kazakhstan. There are currently technical limitations imposed by our nation’s customs authorities that do not allow FedEx Corporation to include pre-paid customs clearance as part of its delivery service. Providing this service under the FedEx brand is also not covered by our FedEx license.

In offering our customs clearance service, we:

  • Take the bureaucratic hassle and hassle out of customs clearance for import and export non-commercial shipments and take care of all the bureaucratic hassle and chase;
  • Reduce time for delivery of import non-commercial cargo in Kazakhstan and simplify the procedure for its export from Kazakhstan;
  • Compensate for the lack of pre-clearance service from the client’s transportation services, including FedEx and TNT.
